Sonia Upadhya
Sonia brings a wealth of expertise as the Vice President of Programs and Governance at Jake’s House. With a strong background in business, Sonia attended Toronto Metropolitan University and the Schulich School of Business, and is a certified Project Management Professional. She now oversees a diverse portfolio of programs for the organization, including the Legends Mentoring Program, Employment Training Program, and Inclusive Housing initiatives. Her leadership extends to managing staff and various financial matters such as budgeting, planning, fundraising, and grant writing as well, showcasing her versatility and willingness to roll up her sleeves and get things done.
Joining Jake’s House in March 2020, Sonia’s career journey has seen her transition from a team leader in the technology and wireless sales sphere to a seasoned project manager. What drives Sonia’s passion at Jake’s House is the profound impact that our services and programs have on individuals and families through meaningful connections and transformative experiences. She cherishes the opportunities to engage with participants, candidates, and parents at Jake’s House events and programs, fostering a sense of community and purpose.
Outside of work, Sonia indulges her curiosity for space and the cosmos through books and podcasts. She also treasures spending quality time with her daughter, balancing her professional talents with personal fulfillment and family values.
